FAQ

What are the allowable amounts for the funding categories?

The only category that has a maximum is candidate fee scholarships, which is 5%.

What type of invoicing will be required for the reimbursements?

You will be required to submit itemized monthly expense reports (due on the 15th of the following month – ex: October expenses are due November 15th). You can find the required documentation that will be required for each type of expense here (page 2). Your expenses will be approved or returned for edits within 5 business days. Once expenses are approved, you will receive the reimbursement via ACH within 30 days.

We noticed only 5% can be used towards direct reimbursements to candidates – does this mean candidates could receive stipends for professional development opportunities in lieu of direct reimbursements?

The 5% is an option to cover candidate component fees in states or local areas that do not offer candidate assistance. Candidates are not able to receive stipends for professional development from SEED at this time, but if the local agency chooses to fund that, it can count towards its matching funds requirement.

Will interest be charged on the funds advance?

What determines if something is "allowable and reasonable"?

Please use the M2C Fiscal Guidelines when determining if a cost is “allowable and reasonable”. If you have any concerns about potential costs not being allowable or reasonable, feel free to reach out to Claire Brown via email or Slack to confirm.

Will the financial advance be in the form of a check or ACH funds?

The financial advance will be in the form of ACH funds.

What is the date of the funds advance?

You will receive the advanced funds within 30 days of submitting your signed contract, ACH form, and W9.

Are you able to confirm that our district support provider's salary can be included in the 25% funds match calculation?

As long as your district support provider’s salary is not funded by federal avenues, it may be counted towards the 25% match funds.

Where will the demographic information come from for determining the race of candidates – will the National Board require this on their candidate dashboard?

This will be self-reported by the candidate through their application and other demographic collection opportunities.

The student data mentions grades 3-8 only – will data from high school students also be relevant?

What happens if our site doesn't train 150 teachers in the 2-year time frame? What happens if 70% of our ToC candidates do not successfully certify as NBCTs?

Your estimates help us track potential impact and Partner Site recruitment needs. We trust that all of us are putting our best efforts into achieving the targets and outcomes we’ve set. To that end, we recognize the current challenges in the field and their impacts on recruitment and retention. There are no repercussions or consequences for missed targets. Together, we will analyze the root causes of where we missed the mark, apply what we’ve learned, and redesign a stronger program for the future. That is what innovation and research are all about.

Will the National Board include something in NBConnect for the partner sites to seamlessly monitor those candidates on the SEED initiative track?

Yes, the M2C team is currently working with our internal data team to design custom dashboards and reports that will help M2C SEED network members track and manage data points more efficiently. We will update you as new features are added.
